RAUK’s 2009 Annual General Meeting was held at the Royal Thames Yacht Club in Knightsbridge. The outcome of the 2009 officer elections were announced: Congratulations to new officers Chairman Dr. Thomas Grant, Vice Chairman Stacy Hilliard, Secretary Christina Gungoll Lepore and Treasurer Cathryn Crites Warner.

Conservatives Abroad hosted a Reception for RAUK at the House of Commons with remarks by George Osborne MP, Shadow Chancellor, and Tom Grant, new RAUK Chairman.  Members and guests were honored and delighted to be joined at the reception by Baroness Thatcher.

RAUK Members gathered at Janet’s Bar in South Kensington for the December pub night

9 December
RAUK Members and guests attended a cocktail party at the Royal Thames Yacht Club to celebrate the holidays

4 November
RAUK co-hosted the Election Night Party at the US Embassy. Members and guests gathered at the US Embassy on Grosvenor Square until after 3am to watch the election returns. RAUK representatives were interviewed by multiple media outlets throughout the event including FOX News Channel. RAUK’s Autumn 2008 Newsletter was published and distributed at the event (see “Newsletters” link at left).

Conservative Home’s Jonathan Isaby spoke to RAUK Members at the Royal Thames Yacht Club.

In September, October and November 2008, RAUK participated in more than 20 political debates throughout the UK on the upcoming presidential election.

RAUK representatives also frequently appeared on UK television and radio including BBC, SKY News and ITV programmes.

RAUK Ambassador Members attended the Republican National Convention in Minneapolis 1-4 September

Members and guests welcomed R. James Nicholson as the keynote speaker for the 2008 Lincoln Dinner. Nicholson is a former Secretary of Veterans Affairs, Ambassador to the Holy See (Vatican) and Chairman of the Republican National Committee

RAUK members attended our Monthly Happy Hour at a new venue in Westminster

Members of RAUK and Conservatives Abroad heard the Rt Hon William Hague MP Shadow Foreign Secretary speak at a reception held at the House of Lords. Many thanks to Lord John Taylor of Holbeach for sponsoring the event.

Members gathered at a local pub in Westminster for RAUK’s monthly happy hour. Primary results were discussed and results of the online Straw Poll were revealed. Congratulations to Senator John McCain with a clear majority of votes!
